Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked ziti pasta (see notes)

  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp crushed red chili flakes (optional)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • ½ cup chopped parsley (plus extra for garnish)

  • Salt, to taste

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta:

    • Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente, minus 1 minute.

    • Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain pasta (do not rinse).

  2. Cook Beef:

    • In a large skillet over high heat, add olive oil.

    • Brown ground beef for about 2 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.

    • Reduce heat to medium and season with salt and pepper.

  3. Add Aromatics and Sauce:

    • Stir in garlic, onion, crushed chili flakes, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, parsley, and reserved pasta water.

    • Simmer for 8–10 minutes until the beef is fully cooked and tender.

  4. Combine with Pasta and Cheese:

    • Toss in cooked pasta and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella.

    • Top with remaining cheese and cover with a lid for 2–3 minutes until melted.

  5. Serve:

    • Garnish with extra parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated mozzarella for the best melt.

  • For a richer flavor, try a sprinkle of Parmesan on top before serving.

  • Leftovers reheat well in the microwave or oven.
