Korean Ground Beef Bowl: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe

This Korean Ground Beef Bowl is a quick, flavorful meal made with simple pantry ingredients. Savory ground beef is cooked in a sweet-and-salty soy sauce mixture with garlic and ginger, then served over warm rice. It’s perfect for busy weeknights when you want something comforting, satisfying, and full of bold flavor—without spending hours in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended for best flavor)

  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cup broccoli florets (optional)

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

  • Sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Beef
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart until fully browned.

  • Add Aromatics
Drain excess fat if needed. Add the garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

  • Make the Sauce
Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Let the mixture simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Add Vegetables (Optional)
Add broccoli florets and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently, until tender but still bright.

  • Prepare the Rice
Cook rice according to package instructions if not already prepared.

  • Assemble the Bowls
Spoon rice into bowls and top with the Korean ground beef mixture.

  • Garnish and Serve
Finish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to keep the dish from becoming too salty.

  • Swap the protein: Ground turkey or chicken works well if you want a lighter option.

  • Add more veggies like bell peppers, carrots, or snap peas for extra color and nutrition.

  • Make it spicier by adding gochujang or extra red pepper flakes.

  • Meal prep friendly: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
