Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp kosher salt

  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 tbsp canola oil (or any light oil)

  • 1 tbsp sliced green onions (for garnish)

For the Honey Butter Sauce

  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature

  • ½ cup honey

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • ¼ tsp kosher salt

  • ⅛ tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

Cook the Chicken

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, cayenne, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Add the chicken pieces and toss until fully coated.

  3. In a large cast-iron skillet, heat the butter and oil over medium heat.

  4. Shake off excess flour and place the chicken in a single layer. Cook 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

  5. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Honey Butter Sauce

  1. Reduce heat to low, then add the remaining butter to the skillet.

  2. Once melted, whisk in the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.

  3. Stir continuously until the sauce becomes smooth and slightly thickened, like caramel.

  4. Return the chicken to the skillet and toss until fully coated in the sauce.

  5. Turn off the heat and let the chicken rest 5 minutes before serving.

To Serve

  • Serve over steamed white rice or jasmine rice.

  • Garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

  • Spread out the chicken while cooking — overcrowding prevents crispiness.

  • For extra heat, add a pinch more cayenne or crushed red pepper to the sauce.

  • Swap chicken breasts for chicken thighs for a richer flavor and juicier texture.

  • Add a veggie on the side, like steamed broccoli or sautéed green beans, for a complete meal.
