Juicy seasoned beef, sautéed onions and peppers, and melty provolone are tucked inside soft toasted hoagie rolls — the perfect weeknight dinner everyone will devour.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of choice — white American is great too!)

  • 4 hoagie rolls

  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat the Pan
Heat a splash of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Cook Vegetables
Add onions and bell peppers. Sauté 3–5 minutes until beginning to soften.
Optional: Add mushrooms and cook 2–3 minutes more.

  3. Brown the Beef
Push veggies to the side and add ground beef. Cook 5–7 minutes, crumbling well, until no pink remains.

  4. Season
Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Combine everything for 2 minutes.

  5. Melt the Cheese
Reduce heat to low. Place cheese slices on top of the beef mixture, cover, and let melt 2–3 minutes.

  6. Prepare Rolls
Slice rolls without fully cutting through. Lightly toast if desired.

  7. Assemble
Spoon cheesy beef and veggies into each roll.

  8. Serve Hot
Enjoy immediately for the best texture and melty cheese pull!

Notes

  • Spicy Version: Add sliced jalapeños or a pinch of crushed red pepper.

  • Extra Creamy: Mix in a tablespoon of mayo or cheese sauce before stuffing rolls.

  • Low-Carb Option: Serve over a salad or in lettuce wraps.

  • More Philly Flavor: Use white American cheese or Cheez Whiz for a classic twist.

  • Crispy Finish: Broil assembled sandwiches for 1–2 minutes to brown the cheese.
