1 box angel cake mix
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Vegetable oil for frying
Optional: chocolate sauce for dipping
1. Prepare the Cake
Prepare the angel cake mix according to the package instructions. Let the cake cool completely.
2. Form the Bites
Once cooled, scoop out small portions of the cake and roll them into bite-sized balls.
3. Make the Coating
In a bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon to create the churro coating.
4. Fry the Cake Bites
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the cake balls until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per side.
5. Coat the Bites
Remove the fried balls from the oil and immediately roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
6. Serve
Serve warm with chocolate sauce for dipping if desired. Enjoy the combination of crispy exterior and fluffy angel cake inside!
For easier frying, make sure the cake balls are firm and chilled slightly before frying.
You can bake the bites instead of frying: place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes until golden.
Experiment with toppings like powdered sugar, caramel drizzle, or sprinkles for a festive touch.
