Air Fryer French Fries – The Ultimate Guide to Perfectly Crispy Homemade Fries

These Air Fryer French Fries are perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and incredibly easy to make. With just a handful of pantry staples, you can enjoy homemade fries that taste just as good as your favorite restaurant version—without the extra grease. They’re ideal as a side dish, snack, or game-day treat and pair wonderfully with burgers, sandwiches, or your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb russet potatoes (2 large or 3 medium)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)

  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

  • ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ⅛ teaspoon paprika

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Scrub and clean the potatoes thoroughly. Cut them into even ¼-inch thick strips.

  • Rinse the potato strips in cold water, then pat completely dry with a kitchen towel.

  • Place fries in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.

  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika over the fries. Toss again.

  • Transfer fries to the air fryer basket in a single layer.

  • Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 10 minutes.

  • Shake or toss the fries, then cook for another 6–10 minutes until golden and crispy.

  • Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Soaking helps: Rinsing removes excess starch, leading to crispier fries.

  • Don’t overcrowd: Cook in batches if needed for even crisping.

  • Season after cooking (optional): For extra bold flavor, add a pinch more salt right after cooking.

  • Try variations: Swap paprika for chili powder, Cajun seasoning, or Italian herbs.
