Crispy, cheesy, and full of classic Italian flavor, this Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is a quicker and lighter version of the traditional favorite. Using the air fryer means less oil, less mess, and faster cooking—without sacrificing that crunchy coating and gooey melted cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights or a comforting weekend meal, this dish comes together in just 15 minutes!

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 8 oz each)

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup marinara sauce

  • 6 tablespoons reduced-fat mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat Air Fryer
    Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  • Season Chicken
    Season chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper.

  • Prepare Breading Stations

    • Bowl 1: Flour seasoned with salt and pepper

    • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs

    • Bowl 3: Panko breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese

  • Bread the Chicken
    Dredge chicken in flour, dip in egg, then coat with panko mixture. Press gently so the coating sticks.

  • Air Fry
    Place chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
    Cook for 6 minutes per side, or until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  • Add Sauce & Cheese
    Remove chicken and spoon marinara sauce over each piece. Sprinkle with mozzarella.

  • Melt the Cheese
    Return to air fryer and cook 2–3 more minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Serve
    Serve immediately with pasta, salad, or roasted vegetables.

Notes

  • Pound chicken evenly for consistent cooking.

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket—cook in batches if needed.

  • Extra crispy coating: Lightly spray chicken with cooking spray before air frying.
