Air Fryer Calzones are a quick and delicious way to enjoy all the flavors of pizza in a handheld form. With a crispy golden crust and a warm, cheesy filling, these calzones are perfect for busy weeknights, casual dinners, or game-day snacks. Using an air fryer makes them faster and lighter than traditional oven-baked calzones.
1 package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup cooked meats (pepperoni, sausage, or chicken), diced
1 cup fresh spinach or arugula, chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Marinara sauce, for dipping
Prepare the Dough
If using store-bought pizza dough, let it rest at room temperature according to package instructions. Homemade dough should be rolled out and ready to use.
Make the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, cooked meats, spinach, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.
Roll Out the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a large circle about ¼ inch thick.
Cut the Dough
Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into circles about 6–8 inches in diameter.
Fill the Calzones
Spoon a generous amount of filling onto one half of each dough circle, leaving space around the edges.
Fold and Seal
Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges firmly or crimp with a fork to seal.
Preheat the Air Fryer
Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the calzones with beaten egg for a golden crust.
Air Fry
Place calzones in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if needed. Air fry for 10–15 minutes, until golden brown.
Check for Doneness
The dough should be fully cooked and the filling hot and bubbly. Add 1–2 extra minutes if necessary.
Serve
Let cool slightly and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Do not overfill the calzones to prevent leaking.
Lightly spray the basket with oil to avoid sticking.
Flip halfway through cooking if your air fryer heats unevenly.
Customize fillings with mushrooms, onions, olives, or bell peppers.
