This Air Fryer Breaded Chicken Breast is a quick, healthy alternative to traditional fried chicken. It delivers a perfectly crispy coating with juicy chicken inside—without deep frying or excess oil. Ready in about 15 minutes, it’s ideal for busy weeknights, meal prep, or a light, low-calorie dinner.
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (5–6 oz each), or 4 thin-sliced chicken breasts
2 cups seasoned parmesan breadcrumbs
2 large eggs
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Olive oil spray (non-aerosol, for crispiness)
Optional Toppings & Seasonings
Shredded parmesan cheese
Fresh lemon wedges
Chopped parsley
Red pepper flakes
Hot sauce
Prepare the Chicken
Slice each chicken breast in half lengthwise to create thinner pieces.
Pat the chicken dry with a clean towel.
Pound lightly with a meat mallet if needed so all pieces are even in thickness.
Bread the Chicken
Place breadcrumbs in one shallow bowl.
In another bowl, whisk eggs with salt and black pepper.
Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then press firmly into the breadcrumbs until fully coated.
Air Fry
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray.
Arrange the chicken in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
Spray the tops lightly with olive oil spray.
Cook for 6–7 minutes, flip carefully, spray again, and cook for 4–5 more minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Serve
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Finish with a squeeze of lemon, extra salt and pepper, and optional toppings.
Thin, even chicken cooks faster and stays juicy.
Press the breadcrumbs firmly to help them stick and crisp up.
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer—this ensures even browning.
Add extra flavor by mixing garlic powder, paprika, or Italian seasoning into the breadcrumbs.
