This Air Fryer Baked Potato recipe gives you perfectly crispy skin with a fluffy, creamy center—without waiting for the oven. It’s simple, fast, and uses just a few pantry ingredients. Perfect as a side dish or a base for your favorite toppings like butter, sour cream, cheese, or chives.
3 russet potatoes (about 300 g each)
1½ tablespoons oil
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Preheat the air fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) if required by the manufacturer.
Prepare the potatoes
Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly.
Season
Rub the potatoes all over with oil. Season generously with salt and pepper.
Pierce each potato once in the middle with a fork.
Air fry
Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Cook for 40 minutes, turning once halfway if desired.
(Smaller potatoes may need less time; larger ones may need a bit more.)
Check doneness
Insert a knife into the center of a potato. If it slides in and out easily, the potatoes are done.
If not, cook for an additional 5–10 minutes.
Serve
Slice open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.
Russet potatoes work best because of their starchy, fluffy interior.
Drying the potatoes well helps the skin get extra crispy.
For ultra-crispy skins, lightly spray the potatoes with oil again halfway through cooking.
Don’t overcrowd the basket—airflow is key.
